Apple Cider Vinegar & Pear Smoothie

Fall has arrived here in Northern California.
There is a crispness in the air and the colors are changing
to what I call a "Maxfield Parrish" day.

With the turning of the season I find that I'm craving apples and pears.
This delicious smoothie meets that need and more and was adapted from a recipe
from the book Microbiome Diet, by Raphael Kellman, MD p.247

Please use organic!

  • 1 sm apple, cored and chunked
  • 1 sm pear, cored and chunked
  • 1/4 Cup unsweetened apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup of nut milk of choice* (or kefir or yogurt)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbls protein powder or collagen powder
  • 2 Tbls ground flax seeds
  • 1 Tbls white chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cardamon
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 1 Fall Memory

Directions

  1. Blend all of the ingredients, including your memory of Fall, in a blender until smooth and creamy.

  2. Pour into a favorite glass and sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg.

  3. Soak up the beauty of Fall and enjoy your smoothie!

*I usually make my own nut milks. When I don't have any fresh on hand, I just use an additional 1/4 cup of water and a small handful of cashews. Voilá! Instant nut milk!
